Teach your daughter to have a good, intimate routine!

For dads, discussing genital cleanliness and its function with their daughters can often be uncomfortable and even embarrassing. You might be tempted to use nicknames to ease the tension, but this can lead to misinformation and confusion about proper care.

Today, we'll focus on breaking these taboos and helping you teach your daughter a healthy, intimate hygiene routine.

The first step is to ensure she knows the correct names for her private parts. Explain the terms: vagina, vulva, labia majora, and labia minora. Sit down with her and use a reference drawing to help explain the location and function of each one.

The second step is teaching her the basics of proper cleanliness:

👉🏻 Explain that using the bathroom is a daily activity. Show her the appropriate way to clean herself after urinating or defecating. One crucial step is to always wipe from front to back. This prevents stool debris from contacting the vulva and reduces the risk of bacterial infections. After defecating, she should clean thoroughly, using enough toilet paper to ensure no residue is left behind. Remind her that the last piece of toilet paper should come away clean.

👉🏻 Emphasize the importance of drying the genital area, including the folds of the labia and buttocks, after showering or bathing. Leaving moisture in these areas can promote the growth of fungi and bacteria.

👉🏻Remind her to constantly wash her hands with soap and water before and after using the bathroom. This habit is crucial to prevent the spread of infectious diseases transmitted orally and fecally through the hands.
