Saba® makes you feel #CómodaContigo.

Hi! Today we are going to talk about all of the benefits that yoga has on your body.

The word “yoga” means “union” in sanskrit, and helps create a link between your mind, body, and spirit. During menstruation, there are a variety of physiological changes and symptoms like abdominal cramps, leg cramps, lower back pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and the list goes on. Surely, you’ve felt at least some of these symptoms! Even though the intensity and number of symptoms is different from woman to woman.

To combat the discomfort of symptoms at this stage of the menstrual cycle, it is sometimes necessary to resort to analgesic or hormonal therapy as prescribed by a healthcare professional. But, this is where the beautiful relaxation technique known as yoga comes in. Yoga helps you have a super healthy menstrual cycle naturally via movements and poses that release endorphins. These endorphins improve your mood, and thus, decrease annoying menstrual symptoms. There are also asanas (poses) that help release and calm the central nervous system and increase oxygenation and blood supply to the pelvic area.

During menstruation, women should practice relaxing and undemanding postures that won’t cause damage or pain in the short or long term. It is advisable to avoid certain types of poses when practicing yoga. Poses like inversions, extensions, and other unsupported postures should be avoided. Let’s get to stretching! But carefully stretching. ‍♀️ ‍♀️

The reason why we avoid demanding postures while we are on our periods is that during menstruation, the blood flow to the pelvic floor is greater, and when doing an inversion or when turned upside down, it can cause a lot of pressure in the veins and arteries of the uterine walls causing more bleeding and vascular congestion.

Let's remember the advantages of practicing yoga while on your period, without forgetting to avoid demanding poses. As well as the benefits of practicing any type of exercise. Saba is there for you when you want to be active during your period with a selection of pads that will make you feel cómoda contigo. Namaste!
